My name is Rowan. I work for a small, family-owned (not by my family) apartment rental company in coastal Maine. Sounds boring, but turns out that everyone needs a place to live, so people from all walks of life call me. I quickly learned that there’s a lot of stupid people out there. Lots of times, they are cleverly disguised as smart people.
The company is owned and founded by an old man who is creeping towards eighty and is in severe denial about his progressing Alzheimer’s diagnosis. His younger daughter is my immediate boss. She wants to be a good person but never figured out how, so instead decided that everyone is out to get her. Anxiety and paranoia are key in describing her personality. My office co-worker is, luckily, pretty normal.
